Biography
Not enough can be said about Danielle Harris. Forget the movies, forget television for a moment, this is not what defines her as a one of the most wonderful
human beings that ever shared our air. From her love of animals, to her various charitable actions, Danielle is the kind of entity that personifies what a
woman should be. Unlike many of the faces in Hollywood, Danielle has the ability to turn what would be a forgotten character, into someone we don't
soon foget. She has done this since the first time she sat in front of a camera for a small
Lipton's Cup-A-Soup commercial. Although, it was never aired,
you could see her talent fighting to get out and be appreciated. Two years later Danielle Harris the "actor" was finally born. She landed her first
television role on June 3rd, 1985, when she was casted as the lovable but troubled Sammi Garretson on the hit daytime drama "One Life To Live.
Although her role was short lived, the entire cast couldn't say enough about they're young conterpart. It wouldn't stop there.
In the spring of 1987, Danielle's agent was approached by Moustapha Akkad and producer/writter Debra Hill, for Danielle to play the lead role in
their highly popular slasher flick, "Halloween". After talking it over with her family, it was decided that it was going to be Danielle's decision, now
for the first time, Danny had to make a serious choice about her carreer, soley on her own. The choice she made that day changed her life forever.
September 13th, 1987 (ironic date don't you think) They began filming what was then called "Halloween 4: The Shape Returns". They later changed the sub-title
to the final release name; "The Return Of Michael Myers". So impressed with young Danielle's performance as the scared little neice of Michael Myers himself, Debra Hill, and co-star Ellie Cornell insisted
that if another sequel would be made, that Danielle must return to reprise the role of Jamie Lloyd. They got there wish, after the film was released
in the fall of 1989. the movie did modestly well, but the performance of Danielle Harris was the one real bright spot the writters had to hold on to.
So the deal was done, the next installment of the Halloween series would be rushed into production, to keep with the October
theme of releases. Less than 9 months seperated the cast and crew from the Friday October 27th, 1989 release date and the start of filming.
The movie In my opinion suffered greatly because of this fact. However, the character of Jamie Lloyd stood out so much, that everyone agreed that
Danielle alone could carry the film. Well, she did! Not only did the movie which was released as "Halloween 5: The Revenge Of Michael Myers", do better
than the last, but the letters kept pouring in to the Akkad offices, praising the character of Jamie Lloyd and the actor who played her. This was the
start of the cult-following that to this day still exists! A star was born right!? Yes and no, after the success of the Halloween 4 and 5 the star that
should have kept rising fell, and fell pretty hard. Danielle, who had signed on for 3 movies, was going to have to settle on the two, John Carpenter
refused to be part of anything Halloween, as long as Mr Akkad was at the helm. Of course, this didn't change anything and Halloween was officially dead,
for a few years anyways. So what became of the pretty little girl now type-cast as Jamie Lloyd. Not a hell of a lot!
She went on from there to do such movies as "Marked For Death" in 1990,
a year later she co-stared with Bruce Willis & Damon Wayans in the action/comedy hit "The Last Boyscout", but it didn't
stop there, that year she went on to do 4 other other films; "Don't Touch My Daughter", "The Killing MInd",
"City Slickers" and "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead". Smaller but notable roles were
small screen appearances on great shows like; "Growing Pains" and "Eerie, Indiana". The most
famous of all her television persona's would most definately be her role as the white-trash neighbor Molly Tilden on the smash hit
"Roseanne". Durring her year with the cast, she not only became a fan favourite, but Roseanne herself aswell as John
Goodman, couldn't stop raving about how great and mature Ms Harris was, so much so that Roseanne insisted that Danny accept a role in her next T.V.
movie titled "The Woman Who Loved Elvis" and later in the film "Roseanne: An Unauthorized Biography".
After that Danielle had some bit parts on various T.V. shows, as well as the big screen. In 1996, she auditioned for a role in
the upcoming dissaster movie "Daylight" starring Sylvester Stallone. She got the part, and agian was praised by her castmates.
But that year, it was the strait-to-video movie "Wish Upon A Star", that in many of the fans minds made her as famous as she
would be for a few years to come. Being the only starring role in almost 8 years, she kicked some major ass! Her character Hayley Wheaton, was her
best role to date. She convinced us all that it was possible for a 4' 11" tall girl to suddenly fit into a non-talored outfit made for a 5' "0 tall
older sister character. hmmm, lol, that aside, she was incredible! But once agian, she fell off the map.
It wasn't untill the film 1998 "Urban Legends" (filmed in here in Toronto), that we would see her in a big budget movie, not
just that, but a horror movie to boot! However, fans were very disappointed in the charatcter Tosh, although goth people loved it, her general fans
who stuck with her through the years were turned off to see they're beloved Danielle in a very suggestive possition with a dude that looks like he hadn't
eaten in three years, not to mention her secret real life habbit, was brought out in the open (she still smokes today by the way). All-in-all, it wasn't
a very good return to the roots she made famous 10 years prior.
She did however redeem herself to the fans with her very cool role in "Charmed", playing
"The Fourth Sister" (title of the episode), Aviva, a troubled young, yet powerful witch. It was a great role for her, it
brought back the feelings she had doing Halloween, can you blame her? No sex scene in this puppy! Again! She fell of the map, but this time not for long.
In 2001 she decided to go for another lead role, only this time her voice would be the star. This of course is the fun and quarky "The Wild Thorberrys".
She would go on to voice the character of Debbie untill today as a matter of fact.
Today, she's a busy University student thinking and preparing her mind for the possibility of giving up films and television completely!
After the Freddy V.S. Jason role fell-through (so to speak) she's left questioning her career. So what is to be of Danielle Harris in the years to
come. Well, I can tell you without a doubt that having a family and enjoying her life is first on the list of things to do, but the idea of returning
to the big screen as Jamie Lloyd, or any character in the Halloween universe is not totally out of the question, time well tell.
