Female Hobbit Extra
June 14, 2004
The hobbit costume I want to
make is pretty generic: blouse, bodice, apron, skirt. I drew it out in
my student planner once. I think Simplicty
Design 5799 will work well for the bodice but the lining and boning
are a little intimidating. The reason I chose that pattern rather than
the thousands of renaissance ones is that the neckline is high and the
lacing looks like it'll be easy to move to the back. I want the colors
to be mainly green and yellow but I'll wait to look in the the bargain
bin to decide. :)

Woohoo! I've taken the
first step...spending money. I bought cloth for the skirt, the apron,
and the chemise. I didn't get anything for the bodice yet because I
didn't see anything that looked appropriate. The cloth for the skirt
and the apron are basic cotton. The green was a little bright but the
darker green was double the price so... The other cloth is some sort of
textured polyester. I was really pleased with the color and the texture
but since its kinda see-through I might need to double-layer it.
