These FAQs are designed to give advice, help, and answer any questions about the board. So, please read through all of these and make sure your question is not already on the list before asking a staff member for help. Thank you.
What is "Next Generation Consoles"?
Next Generation Consoles is an ezboard made to promote equality among different console users. Our goal is to eliminate pointless bickering usually associated with video game ezboards (IE. Xbox sucks, Gamecube sucks, PS2 rules etc). We also offer unique ways to express your creative side in terms of artwork, writing, reviewing, and even journalism.
Who's in charge here?
If you look to your left at the sidebar, all the moderators (mods) and administrators (admins) are in charge. As of now CodawgX and Verch Torcitec wield the most power as they finalize all the decisions as well as make new forums.
What are the rules?

How many Gamecube, PS2, and Xbox fans frequent this board?
Gamecube fans: A lot. PS2 fans: Several. Xbox fans: Several. We encourage you to spread the good word of our board to your friends who share your interests.
Why am I "Pond Scum"?
Don't worry, it's just a way of hazing the new guys. Think of the titles as ranks; the more you post the higher your "rank" gets. The Pond Scum title will change after more than 15 posts. Once you have received all the ranks, you can request to have your own custom title. But we'll leave that up to you to find out when.
How do I affiliate with you guys?
First, ask for our permission and read the rules here. Second, enter this code somewhere on your board to get our button (omit the asterisks), or check out the affiliation webpage for more buttons:

Which resolution is this site best viewed in?
1024 x 768 is the best. However, 800 x 600 is great too.
Could you join my board contest?
Maybe. Because of the arrogance and rudeness people exhibit in "Board of the Month" type contests we will no longer participate in all of which we are invited to, unless it's proven that it will be in a well-moderated environment.
What's in the UTOPIA? And why can't I get into the Prison, the Treasure Vault, or the Private Bar?
The UTOPIA is just a place for the admins and mods to hang out; we don't do too much except discuss what we should do in case a problem arises or when a big change needs to be made. You can't get into the Prison because you're not allowed... even if you were allowed you couldn't post a new topic or reply to an old one. You wouldn't want to go in there anyway. As for the Treasure Vault, that's a forum just for viewing some of the best discussions we've ever had on this board, and only if you're a long-standing respected member of this board, you will be allowed access. You cannot reply to any of those topics there either. And finally, the Private Bar; as of now it's another asylum for staff members but it may have other uses in the future.
Where can I post?
Anywhere you can get into. Town Square is for friendly chat, General Video Games is for open topic discussion about video games, User Greetings is for introducing yourself, the Playstation, Nintendo, and Microsoft sections are just for specific console discussion, Reviews is for reviewing any type of entertainment, Editorials is for voicing your opinions, and the Creative Showcase is for pushing your creative juices. There are a couple of others but they are self-explanatory.
What do the ezPost buttons mean?
Use the buttons to create the post effects you want in your post. When you click on any button a window will pop-up with a text box. Type or paste your text and click OK to format it. To set the font color, type, and size make your selections from the dropdown menus and then click on the Set Font button. When using the ezPost tool all you need to do is click the emoticon image to the right of the posting box to insert it into your post. If you don't want to display the ezPost tool, simply select the Plain Text button in the posting interface and your preference will be saved.
Why is the time and date different?
This board is set to EST (-5), and we use the 12 hour clock. There will soon be a Javascript which will convert the board time to your local time.
Can you help me find ROMs or emulators?
No. ROM and emulation possession and discussion is illegal and therefore is prohibited on this board.
Why isn't anyone ever in the Live Chat?
We all live in different timezones and it's impossible to predict when someone is going to be in the chat or not. The only way you can tell if someone is chatting is when you see the number of people doing so on the main page; however, we may not always be active. Often chats are scheduled but they focus more on site business and not for recreation.
Can I be a mod or admin?
We just don't hand out positions like candy; authority positions on the site have to be earned by showing us that you will demonstrate good behaviour, that you can provide assets to the board (new features) and that you will do work around here. Sometimes it all depends on being in the right place at the right time. ;) We don't want too many admins and mods, some people need to be the simpletons that don't have to uphold the law... besides, being able to delete or edit topics isn't that great. No more admins will be allowed. However, moderator positions will be available from time to time as people start slacking off or when this board becomes more active.
