Woodlea
Rural Fire Brigade
is situated on the eastern most side of the Gatton shire,
taking in the south of Gatton Township and including
the Ropeley/Rockside area. Woodlea Brigade is responsible
for the fire suppression and hazard reduction of a total
area of approximately 200 km2 which consists of open
grassland, as well as scrubby mountainous country. We
are a Class 2 Brigade with (at the moment) one
light attack vehicle, a 2000 issue Nissan Patrol and
a slip on unit. Our membership ranges from local business
proprietors to housewives and from farmers to university
students from the local University campus, UQG. All
training needed is provided by our qualified Training
Officer and all persons 16 years and older are eligible
and welcome to joining our membership ranks in either
an active or support role. We hold monthly general meetings
and regular training and maintenance sessions, which
all members are encouraged to attend as much as possible,
with the occasional BBQ.
