FIRE APPLIANCES

Our current brigade appliance is a 5/2000 Nissan Patrol obtained from Queensland Fire and Rescue Service through the Veteran Vehicle Replacement Program and outfitted as a fire appliance by AAA Engineering - Crows Nest.

This is our Unit 5.

This vehicle has a 650 litre water capacity complimented by a foam dispersement system for more efficient water usage during fire fighting. The appliance is capable of carrying 3 crew in the cab and the required license for this appliance is an open C class. These vehicles have the capability to draw water from any available water source.

This was the scene when our members attended the official handing over of the appliance and took possession. Which one's ours again??

The full range of our appliance pics can be viewed in the Photo Galleries.

We also have a slip-on unit comprising of a tank/pump etc. This unit can be slipped into the back of most 4WD utilities.

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS .
In 1999 when the Woodlea Rural Fire Brigade was formed, the brigade started out with 2 fire appliances. One was a Mazda dual cab utility and the other was a Toyota Landcruiser utility. The Mazda was decommissioned and tendered for sale in 2000 while the Landcruiser was decommissioned and tendered for sale in 2001, after the brigade took possession of the new unit 5, the Patrol. Below is a photo of our old Unit 4, the Landcruiser.
