Code 3: Arrived at call, an area of bush, grass, rubbish or trade waste on fire, out of doors.

Code 5: Returning to station on completion of fire service activity at any incident, other than false alarm calls, or where one appliance is leaving the scene from a multiple attendance at any incident. (Leaving WORKING JOB).

Code 6: Malicious false alarm, area has been checked, no signs of fire or reported incident, notify QPS, returning to station, available for turnout.

Code 7: Indicates that unit is out of action for one reason or another. This code should be followed by a brief description of the problem, where the unit is going to, and the likely time it will be out of action.

eg: CODE 7 OUT OF WATER GOING TO REFILL DELAYED 15 MINUTES

Code 8: Arrived at incident, checking with officer in charge.

Code 9: A casualty, (alive) has been located followed by a number to indicate the number of persons. Add "F" for FEMALE "M" for MALE, then add "C" for CORONER or "A" for AMBULANCE.

eg: CODE 9 1MA 2FC means; One male casualty requiring medical attention and two female casualties requiring the attention of the coroner if the patients are obviously deceased.

Code 10: Arrived at call, quantity of fuel or other substance being dealt with in interest of public safety (not large spill).

Code 16: Turncock required, state reason for request.

Code 17: Gas examiner required, state reason for request.

Code 30: Unit is to respond to the incident at normal road speed, WITHOUT lights and sirens.

Code 40: Unit to who message is directed is NOT required at incident, assumed to be available for turnout.

Code 50: Unit has returned to station.

Code 99: Building well involved.

NOTE: This code is to be followed by a verbal sit-rep that includes:

A. Description of premises;

B. Indicate the course of action;

C. Indicate the potential and exposure risks;

D. Indicate what assistance is required.

STOP Message: fire/incident is under control, all other responding units code 40, radio base to confirm code 40 with all other units.

UNDER CONTROL: An UNDER CONTROL message indicates that the OIC is satisfied that the incident will be able to be contained with the resources that have/are responding to it and that it is only a matter of time before a satisfactory resolution is acheived. Any resources that are enroute to the incident but have not yet arrived are still required and should continue on and take up with the OIC.

NOTE: The OIC at the scene may direct that all mobile appliances revert to a CODE 30 status when the situation does not warrant a turnout response thereby reducing the risk factor as well as noise pollution.

USE OF STOP AND UNDER CONTROL MESSAGE:

Whenever a unit is mobilised to a call the OIC of such call will ensure that a STOP message is transmitted at the earliest point in time.

This message will ensure that resources are utilised in an appropriate manner.

Whenever a "working" call is attended the OIC of such call will ensure that an UNDER CONTROL message is transmitted at the earliest point in time. The STOP message for a "working" call may be given at the same time as the UNDER CONTROL or at a later point in time.

Therefore a non-working call will have a STOP message only and a working call will have both an UNDER CONTROL and a STOP message.
